In 1919 Joe Luck opened a modest dry goods store in the Firestone Park neighborhood of Akron Ohio. Firestone Park was a working class neighborhood built by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for the thousands of rubber workers streaming into Akron in those days.

The new Lucky Shoes opened its splendid "one of a kind" store in June 1976 in a stunning 16,500 square foot facility. The new location was the largest shoe store in the state of Ohio and one of only a handful of comparable size in the entire country.

1995 marked the beginning of a period of rapid fire changes in the Company. In 1995, The Company opened the first Rockport Shop in Ohio at Great Northern Mall in North Olmstead. The Rockport brand and the Lucky Shoes, Inc. philosophy of quality, service and fit were a perfect match. The Rockport Shop generated excitement from the beginning and continues to represent an important share of the Company's business. In 1996, with the opening of South Park Center in Strongsville, Ohio the Company added a third full-service Lucky Shoes, the second Stride Rite Bootery and the second Rockport Shop.

1999 saw the addition of two New Balance specialty stores, one in Fairlawn Town Centre next to Lucky's and one in Great Northern Mall. New Balance is the only athletic shoe company that features all of its styles in widths. This fits the Lucky Shoes, Inc. philosophy. We know Own and operate 8 New Balance storesand are growing.
